The great majority of the procedures, consultations and services carried out at our surgery are paid for by the National Health Service. However, where additional procedures and services are provided, we are required to pass on the specific costs to patients. In relevant circumstances, these costs may be met by Employers or other requesting bodies.
Some charges will include VAT (at 20%) as the Filey Surgery is an NHS dispensing practice which was previously exempt from payment of VAT. Unfortunately following changes to the NHS payment system we were required to become VAT registered from 1st April 2006. As a result all non healthcare services will become liable for VAT. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but unfortunately this is outside our control.
